Abstract / Description

On Feb. 5, 2015, Doran Schrantz, Executive Director of ISAIAH in Minnesota, discussed community organizing, political power and other topics at The Trust’s first Health Equity Learning Series event of 2014. More than 100 people attended the presentation at the History Colorado Center in Denver, and the event was also live-streamed to hundreds more at 27 remote viewing parties across the state.

The Trust is pleased to offer several resources to help keep the health equity conversation going in your community. Our Health Equity and Community Engagement Discussion Guide features questions and discussion topics regarding Ms. Schrantz’s presentation. The topic of income equality and raising the minimum wage in Minnesota was discussed during the presentation, and a report by the Minnesota Department of Health provides further context. Lastly, the Trust publication Lessons in Creating Better Health for All summarizes lessons and action items from the 2014 Health Equity Learning Series presentations. (author introduction)
